Save Texas Moms is a mom-led, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit that turns community voices and evidence-based data into statewide action, closing the gaps that put Texas families at risk.
How do we do it? We advocate for policies and programs that make quality maternal health services accessible for all Texas families. Our work benefits communities by supporting statewide outreach, developing program solutions, and providing comprehensive maternal healthcare information and resources. We continue to focus on protecting and advancing maternal healthcare through advocacy, issue education, and community building.
We also proudly support healthcare advocates across Texas. We work with diverse individuals, including health professionals, community partners, state officials, and Texas families. This diversity is a crucial strength of our organization, allowing us to approach maternal health from multiple perspectives and better serve the needs of Texas families.
Why Texas?
In Texas, 49.6% of counties are maternity care deserts (March of Dimes, 2024)
In 2024, Texas ranked 51st out of 51 states in overall health care access (Commonwealth Fund, 2024)
Only 68% of Texas mothers met the recommendation in 2020 to enter prenatal care during the first trimester, a lower proportion than any other state (2022-2023 Healthy Texas Mothers and Babies Data Book),
Women living in maternity care deserts travel 4.5 times farther than women living in areas with full access to maternity care in Texas (March of Dimes, 2023).
Our mission evolved with a simple question from Texas moms: “Why is having a safe pregnancy and delivery this hard?” The numbers above—and the loved ones behind them—drive everything we do.

Our core belief is that every woman has the right to fair, equitable, and quality maternal healthcare across the state, regardless of race, age, socioeconomic status, insurance, or location. Working together, we can eradicate the health and racial disparities that continue to be significant drivers of maternal mortality and morbidity in Texas and across the U.S.
